Welcome

Confidentiality and privacy

All our staff have signed a contract to maintain your confidentiality to keep your records private. There is no need to give them your medical details but it is helpful if you can indicate the reason for your appointment or the amount of time you need.

If you would prefer to speak to the receptionist in private, please ask her and she will take you to a place away from the reception desk.

Please give other people their privacy by not standing too close behind them at the reception desk.

Training

From time to time student doctors, nurses and trainee professional staff, join the team as part of their training. If you would rather see your doctor alone please inform reception. We will not be offended.

NURSES

Practice Nurses

All patients can book an appointment with the Practice Nurses at all our surgeries. Please state the reason for the appointment so that reception can book the right amount of time and the right nurse.

The Practice Nurses run clinics for breathing conditions, diabetes and baby immunisations - see Services and Clinics for details.

Midwives

The midwives offer maternity services at College Surgery and branch surgeries to all pregnant women. They see you when first pregnant to introduce themselves. They take a history and also discuss where you would like to have your baby. They then see you throughout your pregnancy and after the birth of your baby.

It is sometimes possible for them to be with you in labour and at the birth of your baby, depending on where you decide to have your baby. They also offer parentcraft classes during your pregnancy.

Health Visitors
